New York, Los Angeles and Singapore: the hottest cities worldwide for retail
A new report elaborated by Modaes.es and supported by Tendam Group and Spain’s Enterprise Institute analyses unveils the top 100 most attractive cities for retail companies.
New York, Los Angeles and Singapore. These are the three most attractive cities worldwide for retail, according to the recently-released report Hot Retail Cities, which identifies the most appealing one hundred metropolis for this industry. The document was elaborated by Modaes.es and supported by Tendam Group and Spain’s Enterprise Institute.
Despite the ever-increasing digitalization, cities keep a key role for trade. Since 2008, over 50% of the world’s population lives in big urban areas and the ratio could reach 60% by 2030.
New York has obtained 625 points out of the maximum score (1,000), based on demographic, socioeconomic, political, touristic and infrastructure-quality criteria. Los Angeles got the silver medal with 556 points, while Singapore scored 548 points.
San Francisco, Hong Kong, Shanghai and London are ranked within the top ten cities for retail
The other seven spots within the top ten include cities like San Francisco, Chicago, Hong Kong, Boston, Tokyo, Shanghai and London. These global powers are also the most developed in economic, political and social affairs on a global scale.
Country wise, the United States emerge as the country with a higher amount of cities ranked and thus the most appealing market for retail groups aiming to expand internationally. Besides the previously mentioned, Miami, Seattle and Philadelphia also appear among the one hundred classified cities.
The second country with a higher amount of cities featured is India. More precisely, the Asian country sneaked seven cities into the list: New Delhi, Bombay, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Jaipur. China and Italy are the following nations, each with six classified cities among the top 100 retail destinations.
