Fashion sales in the UK drop 3.1% in September
It has been the worst month for the fashion sector in the country since 2011. The closure of stores and increasing uncertainty weaken consumer’s confidence.
Bad news for the fashion business in the United Kingdom. Fashion retail sales have fall 3.1% in September, the worst month in eight years.
Footfall also decreased in the same period last year, with a significant decline in shopping centers.
The closure of stores and the increasing uncertainty are the main causes of the fall in sales
This drop is due to the closure of fashion stores and the bankrupcies and CVAs.The uncertainty caused by Brexit has also been a determining factor in this decline.
The report explains that “political divisions have only become more entrenched as we get closer to Brexit crunch time, leaving little room to focus on more immediate policies that could help revitalize the UK economy: businesses can be forgiven for feeling dizzied by the volatility that only intensified throughout the month.”
