Pierre Cardin lands in the museum. The Kunstpalast Museum in the German city of Düsseldorf has organized an exposition of the most iconic pieces from the French designer, under the name Pierre Cardin. Fashion Futurist. The exposition reflects Cardin’s avant-garde style, as well as his futurist and visionary working techniques.
The exposition gathers more than eighty haute couture dresses, men’s and women’s accessories as well as photographs and films. They go through the career and evolution of the designer since its beginnings, in 1950, till his latest creations, which include elegant looks and other more androgynous and sci-fi looking pieces.
All works are displayed in sixty-five mannequins from Italian manufacturer Bonaveri, with figures both feminine and masculine. The mannequins are opaque white to highlight Cardin’s designs, which are known for their geometrical and provocative shapes.
