Zadig&Voltaire defies Smcp in China and creates a jointed venture with its local partner

Zadig&Voltaire speeds up in China. The French company has created a jointed venture with its partner in the country, IT, to boost its growth in the Chinese market. The company competes with Chinese giant Smcp, owner of Sandro, Maje and Claudie Pierlot, that since it was acquired by Chinese group Shandong Ruyi, has increased its expansion in the country.
IT was the partner Zadig&Voltaire landed in China with 10 years ago, according to WWD. The company opened its first establishment in Hong Kong in 2008. Currently, the brand counts with seven stores and presence in multibrand stores owned by IT.
Listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and with more than one billion dollars in revenue, specializes in distributing international brands in China. The company also operates with its own brands, such as swimwear brand A Bathing Ape, licenses, and counts with 850 stores, including the flagship store of Galeries Lefayette in Pekin.
