VF Corporation taps into rental service with Kippling

Kipling rides the wave of rental. The Belgian luggage and travel accessories group, owned by VF Corporation, has launched a rental service for its suitcases with the goal of targeting travelers that want to use a luggage of the brand without owning it.

The service, called Rent your Kipling, is on a pilot phase for the next six months in London and it’s a direct response to the rise in sharing economy, as stated by Oliver Gay, general manager of Kipling for Emea during the presentation of the service in London.

“We are travelling more and more, but we want flexibility, freedom and easy access and the idea is that our rental offers Londoners convenience when travelling,” stated the executive.

The service goes from renting a complete set like carry on suitcases, backpacks and a crossbody bags for four days and it costs 9 pounds (11 dollars), which represents 12% of the full price of buying the same items.

Kipling has allied with Lizee, a rental booking software that takes care of deliveries and cleaning. The Belgian group is also working with DPD courier service to give access to the consumers to click and collect from more than 280 locations around London or home delivery.

VF Corporation closed its fiscal year 2018, the last one where its jeans division Kontoor is still included, with a growth of 13%, up to 13.8 billion dollars. The company doubled its net profit, up to 1.2 billion dollars.
