Ted Baker arrives at one of the rising fashion capitals: opens first store in Antwerp

 

 

Ted Baker tackles fashion capitals through retail strategy. The British fashion company has opened its first directly operated store in Antwerp, Belgium. The store offers womenswear, accessories and leather goods as well as its first click&collect service in the country.

 

Ted Baker is already present in the country with an off-price outlet store in Maasmechelen Village, a designer outlet shopping destination near Zetellaan. The company, that was founded in 1988 by Ray Kelvin started as specialized retailer for men’s shirts.

 

The company fueled its local market for the first decade through retail strategy until it decided to take the international leap to America and opened its first store in New York in 1998, where it sold menswear and womenswear.

 

 

 

 

Antwerp is one of the rising fashion capitals in the world. Thanks to renowned designers such as the called Antwerp Six, designers like Ann Demeulemeester, Walter Van Beirendonck and Dries van Noten, amongst others, all graduates from the Royal Academy of Arts.

 

Currently, Ted Baker focused its core business in multibrand and department stores but its in the middle of a transformation plan to boost its retail strategy. The company is present in more than 35 countries around the world.

 

At the end of its fiscal year 2018, Ted Baker had more than 560 stores globally, of which around 450 are in Europe and North America. The company, that is listed in the London stock exchange, ended its last fiscal with a revenue of 617.4 million pounds, 4.4% more than the previous year, but dropped 26.1% its benefit.
