Nike, to the conquest of the client: appoints its first director of digital information

Nike accelerates in the digitalization of its business. The US sports equipment company has appointed Ratnakar Lavu as the first-ever director of global digital information. The new manager will have the mission of transforming technological advances into new experiences for the consumer.

Lavu comes from the US group of department stores Khol's, where he had served as director of technology and innovation. Among its functions was leading the innovation department and the technology applied to the consumer, a role similar to what it will now have in the sports brand.

"We have to move at the speed that the consumer demands, which requires us to be very precise. Ratnakar has over twenty years of experience working to make sense of user experiences and leading digital transformation teams that accelerate the companies' businesses, "said Eric Sprunk, director of operations at Nike.

Failing to close the fiscal year for 2018, Nike closed the first nine months with an increase in sales of 11%, to 26,608 million dollars (23,353 million euros). The net profit of the multinational rose to 3,040 million dollars (2,668 million euros).
